Hate Riding the Trainer?
Just Be Glad It's Not 1886!
I recently took my aviation-obsessed six year old to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. Among the planes, trains and automobiles, there's a small exhibit of bicycles, including this early exercise bike. A nearby tag explained that "racers and long-distance riders developed speed and endurance by exercising on the 1886 Buffalo Home Trainer."

Hey there. Thanks for the comment on my photos. The race photos were taken with a Nikon D40, an entry-level digital SLR. The Texas/Georgia ride photos were taken with an old Panasonic Lumix that I recently donated to a cousin and replaced with a Canon S90. I never ride without a camera when riding, which is why I hate most women’s jerseys. I can barely get my hands in the tiny pockets!

Thanks for the info. Currently my only camera is the one that came with my phone. I’d really like to get a real camera and start learning how to use it. Although I don’t know if I’m ready to sink a ton of money into a digital SLR.
I’ve considered getting a decent 35mm camera and some lenses to get started. Cheap and outdated – that’s how I roll.
